HH Hospital

Expedition Site 12, Expedition 14, July 17th 2009, Belgium
Seeing pictures of this famous place, we went out for a look!

The Maria ( HH clinic ) was set up by the sisters of Berlaar as a result of the need for health care in 1930. They arranged a large villa for this that counted 9 beds in the beginning. In 1951 they had to rebuild it to a complex with a capacity of 130 beds but since this hospital had an always growing activity further extension followed rapidly in1962. In 2005 when the hospital closed it's doors the hospital counted 164 beds. The hospital at that time merged with a sister hospital and moved into a newly constructed building nearby...

We weren't far from this location when we visited the old sawmill, so we decided to go check it out. I had seen lots of footage from there, and even some clips where they showed the entrance to be closed. We decided to take it on chance and visit it anyway... Well, we got in and found some good shots to take there...
Here they are!
